While our favorite hard ciders are generally available year round, there’s something about the changing of the seasons from Summer into Fall that makes these fruity libations taste their best. Hard cider is a wildly popular beverage around the world and we’ve come to embrace it as our go-to fall drink. We always have cider on hand at clambakes and tailgate parties or around the house for weekend refreshment.

For centuries, hard cider has been produced around the world by fermenting pressed apple juice into a refreshing beverage. Over time ciders have stayed relatively the same (not that it’s a bad thing) but many innovative brewers have begun incorporating other juices like cherry and pear into their exciting new varieties of cider.

Travel to the United Kingdom, France or Ireland and you’ll find that cider is a popular and important beverage in those places. You’d be hard pressed to walk into an English pub and not find a patron or two sipping on a Strongbow or Magner’s Cider.

Made from organically grown apples, this cider is lightly sweet and fruity and then dries out as the palate lingers with balancing tannins and moderate acidity and a mild hint of wood in the aftertaste. It has a juicy feel to it, but also depth and character.

Zombie Killer Hard CiderB Nektar Zombie Killer Cherry Cider – 5.5% ABV

Produced in Ferndale, Michigan

Tart cherry sweetness up front with full, yet crisp fermented cider. Heavy apple skin complements the cherry. Sweet, creamy honey rounds the flavor and balances the tartness of the cherry. Light carbonation lifts the flavor while the honey smooths the overall mouthfeel. Finishes crisp and clean.
