What’s for dinner? I have asked this of myself many times while being frustrated and aimlessly wondering around the grocery aisles.
This once common struggle is now a thing of the past thanks to Heinen’s What’s For Dinner solutions. Designed to assist to with the age old “what’s for dinner” dilemma this program makes mealtime easy by providing you with weekly inspiration for a time-saving gourmet meal.
Each week we release a new meal idea accompanied by a quick, easy recipe that involves minimal cooking and easy ingredients. The best part is that your favorite recipes can be saved on Heinens.com for future use or adjusted to your personal preference by swapping out an ingredient or two.
How do these meal ideas come about? That’s easy! Heinen’s Chef James Mowcomber and I walk Heinen’s aisles looking for items that can be combined into delicious, easy meals. We look for ready-to-cook items from our meat and seafood departments, time-saving short cut vegetables or fruits from the produce department, ready-to-eat items from the prepared food and deli areas and fun ingredients like sauces, shelf-stable grains and items that people may want to use, but don’t know how to pair. For example, our Tomato Basil Bisque is a great tasting soup on its own, but it also makes a great base for steaming mussels, creating a flavorful sauce that you can’t help but want to soak up with a freshly baked baquette.
One of my personal favorite recipes will be released on December 3, 2018. It uses Heinen’s cooked salmon (you can also pick up salmon from the seafood department and cook it yourself if you prefer) topped with sweet pepper Miscela on a bed of sautéed spinach and a Farro Risotto Cake from the Prepared Foods Case as the side. Now that’s whats for dinner! Quick, easy and delicious.
As the hustle and bustle of the holiday season picks up, I recommend giving one of our What’s For Dinner recipes a try for a quick and easy but gourmet pre-holiday meal for the family.
