How long have you been working at Heinen’s?
I started as a cashier at the Avon store 8 years ago. From there I moved to the cash office. I decided that I wanted to build a career at Heinen’s, so when the Sales Lead position became available I jumped at the chance. I really like it, and I like my team.
What’s your favorite part about working in the deli?
I am learning a ton, which is preparing me for when I become a store manager. It’s a great stepping stone for making me a more well-rounded manager.
Do you cook?
Yes. I have to; my husband doesn’t cook. But I enjoy it.
Is there a favorite dish that you like to prepare?
I love to make chicken paprikash. I just made it last night, actually. I’m always on Pinterest and different websites looking up cool new recipes and usages for interesting ingredients. My husband may not always like what I make but at least I have fun!
What are 5 ingredients that are always in your kitchen?
1. Parmigiano Reggiano
2. Good olive oil
3. Garlic Expressions Dressing. I love that stuff! I use it as a marinade. The longer you marinate a steak in it the better. It’s so tender!
4. Fresh herbs – always
5. Two Brothers Seasoning. It’s so good on burgers!
It’s your day off. What are you spending your time doing?
Usually I am working in the yard or doing some sort of project in the house. We have an old farmhouse so there’s always something to do. I love to cook and bake when I’m off, too. I’m a foodie, which makes working at Heinen’s even more fun!
