This time the search took us to the kitchen of Chef Dante Boccuzzi; the legendary chef that is turning the Cleveland Culinary scene on it’s head. Step one foot into any of Dante’s restaurants and it will be readily apparent that Dante takes his pasta sauce seriously.
After hours and hours in the kitchen testing, tweaking and otherwise perfecting his recipes; Dante created 3 varieties of gourmet pasta sauce that will make you wonder “why isn’t all pasta sauce this good?”
Since graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in 1991 Dante’s career has been shaped by some of the top minds in the food world in a few of the world’s most prestigious kitchens. Being fortunate enough to start his career under the eye of Charlie Palmer, pioneer of American Cuisine, at his famous ‘Aureole’ in New York City set Dante on a culinary mission around the world.
He soon found himself in some of Europe’s top restaurants such as London’s L’Escargot, the famed Les Muscadin in Mougins France and the Michelin three-star Gualtiero Marchesi in Brescia, Italy. He even spent some time in Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan in an effort to gain valuable influence from traditions from all corners of the globe.
To bring his culinary journey full circle, Dante returned to the states to open his acclaimed flagship restaurant ‘Dante’ in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland’s West Side in 2007. These days, Dante has put his stamp on 3 other Cleveland area staples, Ginko, DBA and DC Pasta; each highlighting his passion for food influenced by different cultures around the world.
Padding his illustrious resume, in 2012 Chef Dante was nominated by Robb Report magazine for The Next Generation Culinary Master Competition. The competition was made up of five of the worlds most promising and up-and-coming chefs chosen by a panel Culinary Masters from around the Country.
